WikiFashionista Style Report: Shiekh Shoes Fall Collection

Shoe Style Webisode #5: Hey fashionistas! We’re back again with another exclusive fall review, this time from our favorite shoe suppliers over at Shiekh Shoes. Wikifashionista reporter, Sarah Power, met with Heather Johnson at the Beverly Center Shiekh Shoes location to get the scoop on what’s hot for fall. According to the Shiekh Shoe stylist spike are in, higher platform heels are rocking and color blocking is the thing to do. Check out the video about and our review below for all of the details on the 2011 Fall Collection from Shiekh Shoes.

Gold Spikes

Gold Spikes - Christian Louboutin made spikes sexy!

As seen in the video, these spiked sky high heels with an under lay of glitter is quite sexy this fall season. We’d pair these pumps with an Alexander Wang clean cut tuxedo from his fall collection. Or your could pair them with an uber chic pair of leather pants and white flowing top to add a bit of a monochrome feel to your rocker cool girl style.

Leopard Print Wedges
Leopard Print Wedges

This wedge design is something new that Shiekh Shoes has introduced for the fall season. These really high stacked wedges will add an estimated five inches to your current height. So if you love being leggy and tall these wedges are for you. The leopard print or suede texture is a bonus. A trick that Jessica Simpson uses to make herself appear taller is wearing super high heels hidden by her bellbottom or boot cut jeans. Fashionistas take note!

Color Block

Color Block – inspired by Louis Vuitton and Prada

This color block pump from Shiekh Shoes is right on trend for the fall season, and for transitioning into the spring. Every season has a few trends that transcend the seasons and color blocking is one of them. It’s all about the color ways and mixing bold colors into stylish looks.

Mary Jane

Mary Jane

Here’s yet another 5 inch heel from Shiekh Shoes in the form of a Mary Jane. We love the snakeskin and red color block combination. This pair of heels would go well with and tight pencil skirt suit or leopard print harem jumpsuit to mix up your patterns as well. Mixing is very much in this season.

There you have it fashionistas. The lucky winner of our street style video contest will receive a pair of Shiekh Shoes. We wonder which ones she will pick for her very own. In any event we know that Shiekh Shoes have us affordably covered for all of our stylish footwear need for all of the seasons. Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com.

Top 3 Runway to Retail Picks From London Fashion Week

Alright fashionistas! Moving right along to London fashion week, which started before we could even take a breather from New York the new collections showcased at New York fashion week. If you love fashion as much as we do, seeing the new designs from the best and brightest in the fashion business and discovering something different everyday about our favorites is inspiring to say the least. We thought we’d mix it up a bit and show you some of the SS 2012 collections from London fashion week that we believe had the most runway to retail appeal, meaning runway designs that can be sold in store immediately. Below are our top 3 picks.

Runway: Antonio Berardi

Let’s examine from left to right. The color blocked white and red jumpsuit is relaxed and loose fitting, which makes it a little less intimidating to wear. The look completed with a simple red tailored blazer which is a fashionistas staple for everyday attire. Next we love the cross body buttoned blazer paired with sequin harem skinny pants, this look will transition from day to night easily. And last but not least is the stunning red dress with lace embroidering on top and fitted on the bottom. The ¾ sleeves add a conservative finish to this sexy dress. Retail appeal - flattering silhouettes and tailored basics.

Runway: Jonathan Saunders
If you’re looking for the right way to do your color blocking you could learn a few things from the SS 2012 Jonathan Saunders collection. Knowing which color ways work best together is not an easy thing to do, so fair warning fashionistas if you don’t do your research you’ll end up looking a mess. So starting from left to right we like the mint green silk embroidered blazer paired with melon colored just below the knee length skirt. Then the sherbet orange stripe sweater top paired whit the silk green knee length skirt. Last we see a layering peach top over a tank top with loose white jacket paired with baby blue and white oversized skirt. Retail appeal - bold color prints and exotic fabrics.

Runway: Paul Smith
From left to right, first we see loose fitting ankle length slacks accessorized with a skinny belt and aviator shades. The turquoise short sleeve top has an interesting mix of light and dark fabric. Light fabrics and button up shirts are another trend to look for this coming spring. The crisp tailored tops are definitely the star of this line. Next we see a lovely yellow skirt that’s paired nicely with a peach men’s shirt. Last we seek a plaid blazer cinched at the waist with matching pants. No heels for this collection, it was strictly flats. Retail appeal – Masculine designs and relaxed fits.

So there you have our top 3 picks from London fashion week. Let us know which collection was your favorite. As always, thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com.

Fashion for 2011: The Slim Dress by Stella McCartney

Check it out fashionistas! Maybe we can all skip a couple visits to the gym with this innovative dress design from Stella McCartney’s fall 2011 collection. Hollywood fashionistas are all over the dress that creates an optical illusion, thus trimming off those unwanted inches. Not only does this miracle dress slim down the figure, but it also carves out amazing curves. Color blocking is cleverly used to trick the eye like a modern day artist. The trick is done with two colors, the lighter of the two on top which draws attention away from the sides and back of the dress. The darker color is snitched in at the waist to create an exaggerated curvy waist. McCartney is excellent at her craft and hands down has raised the fashion bar with this innovative design.

Liv Tyler is known for having a slightly more curvy celebrity body, which is why this dress works perfect for her figure. Liv looks ultra thin in this Stella McCartney design and judging by her vibrant smile she knows it. If you look closely to the side of the dress, you can see how the dress carves out her womanly figure and nearly makes the rest of her body disappear into the background.

The Stella McCartney dress works wonders for Lala Vasquez! Sometimes Lala looks a little wide in her tight fitting dress. Don’t get us wrong, she’s gorgeous, but most of the time looks a little squeezed into her outfits, especially her dresses and it shows. Lala pictured above in the McCartney dress appears to have a whole new figure. She has a lovely silhouette in the front and the rest just fades away. This design absolutely works for Lala’s body.

As if she needs it! Actually Kate Winslet is one of the more natural figured celebrities on the red carpet these days and who knows how to dress her body well. Yet another excellent choice by Winslet with Stella McCartney dress as you can see in the photo above. The bust area is a little funny to looking on Winslet, but that could just be her choice in undergarment, however the dress is doing what it does best for her figure. She looks slim and thin which is exactly what the dress was meant to achieve. Another red carpet home run!

Who wouldn’t want to look slimmer just by putting on a simple sheath dress? Would you want to get one of these Stella McCartney dresses of your own? Like it! Tweet it! Share it! Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com.

New York Fashion Week Wrap Up: Top 6 Spring/Summer 2012 Collections

Derek Lam
One of the first designers to showcase for fashion week, Derek Lam premiered a classy and delightful line full of all the colors we look to spring for. Lam featured yellows and blues as seen above with abstract floral patterns. Showing his growth from his earlier designs understated with minimal color and off whites, Lam showed the fashion world he knows how to work a pattern.

Diane von Furstenberg
Staying true to form the Diane von Furstenberg show was all we expected it to be and more. Not sure if it’s a new partnership or if von Furstenberg was inspired by her past designs to extract what we all love about her line, but whatever it is we couldn’t get enough of her spring 2012 line. The line’s new sleek and stylish poise was received well amongst the lines showing this season. Particularly we enjoyed the two color floral prints and skirt suits.

Prabal Gurung
Purple lame, translucent techno fabrics set the tone for Prabal Gurung’s 1930’s style showing during fashion week. This is one designer who has his technique for mixing and matching fabrics on a whole other level. Throw in some tailored short suits and tie-dyed rubber and you get one of the most unique spring/summer 2012 collections for the coming season. Nicki Minaj sat front row with Anna Wintour to witness Prabal’s fashion brilliance in the making.

Jason Wu
It’s no wonder why Jason Wu is Michelle Obama’s designer of choice. During fashion week Wu presented a spring/summer 2012 collection full of color and fantasy frocks. The 50’s inspired hand-made line is highly marketable and no doubt will be greatly sought after this coming season. His youthful label is attractive to all women who can afford one of his fairytale designs. We enjoyed the Breakfast at Tiffany’s style skirts paired with simple tees.

Marc by Marc Jacobs
The most sought after American designers across the globe, Marc Jacobs made us tingle at New York fashion week. The thing that is so appealing about Marc Jacobs designs is that they look extremely accessible and wearable. It’s no surprise that Jacobs is all about the tailored design, so we receive a lot of this on the runway. We also saw color blocks with a desired clean, simple and natural style.

Carolina Herrera
An oldie but goodie, Carolina Herrera’s spring/summer 2012 collection left an impression on us this fashion week. The line overall was flowing and glamorous. Check out the sparrow print floor length dress above. We haven’t seen this done before and give Herrera a nod and a wink for mixing it up. Again dynamic duo, and newly found best buds, Anna Wintour and Nicki Minaj, sat front row together at the Herrera show. Is Nicki Minaj making a play for a Vouge cover? We think so!

So much fashion so little time. Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com!

Top Looks at 2011 Emmy Awards

Some people only want to know which celebrity won the Emmy awards, but if you’re a fashionista all you care about is what the celebrities wore! And rest assured that we have the fashion scoop and top looks at the 2011 Emmy awards. Check out the fashionable ruffles, sequins and trains that graced the red carpet last night. Granted, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, which is why we’re taking the time to weigh in on all the glitz and glamour.

Claire Danes in her Oscar de la Renta metallic shimmery sequin floor length gown. This is what the right dress looks like on a celebrity. The strapless design accentuates her beautiful shoulders and the variations of blue bring out her gorgeous blue eyes. Danes is always put together well at red carpet event and can always be counted on for a great showing.

As of late, Evan Rachel Wood has been one to watch on the red carpet and she sure did not disappoint in her Elie Saab Fall 2011 gown. #1 –You can’t go wrong with a sequin gown, especially when all the camera lights are flashing the dress sparkles and so does the celebrity. Earlier this year, Wood got a lot of attention for her daring boy cut, which is a nice contrast to such an elegant gown. We really get happy when someone gets it right.

Wearing Donna Karan Resort 2012, Nina Dobrev was a favorite of ours on the red carpet. She is just the kind of actress that probably would look good in anything, but the Emmy’s are about looking elegant and special. This strapless, mermaid fitted design fits her body exquisitely. Her accessories included a bit of bling around the neck and an understated clutch, she honestly looks as if she could be a beauty pageant contestant.

Last but certainly not least we spotted Sofia Vergara from ABC’s Modern Family, who took home several Emmy Awards for the evening more than making up for lasts year’s upset. We have to say that Colombian women are absolutely gorgeous and Vergara represented on the 2011 Emmy red carpet. Now for the gown: form fitted of course, asymmetrical neckline and exaggerated emerald green diamond earrings. Emmy trend of the night was the mermaid fit with mini train which completely works for Sofia’s figure. Hands down Sofia had the winning look of the evening.

Who was your favorite style diva at the Emmy’s? We’d love to know. Thanks for check back with us at wikifashionista.com

New York Fashion Week Runway Color Trend

If there was one color that surfaced a lot during fashion week it had to be the dominant and vibrant orange. Orange has certainly surfaced from time to time in the past couple of years mainly on celebrity red carpets, but for spring 2012 all major designers used a variation of orange in their collections. So check out who we spotted using the orange color trend so you can get some ideas on how you can use the color for the coming spring.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG SPRING/SUMMER 2012
Above is a floral jumpsuit with a plunging neckline in a vibrant orange. We also love the belted tie knot waist with side pockets. The model looks ultra cool and casual.

BCBG MAX AZRIA
This flowing silk with a high side slit and cross body neckline looks ultra appealing in this bright orange hue. The dress is paired with a color blocked loose fitting hoodie jacket giving the style a more relaxed feel.

JIL STUART
Using a youthful red orange color for this innocent looking mini dress is right on target for the spring season. Jil Stuart’s designs have a simi-sophisticated feel to them incorporating many pleated, short sleeve mini dress looks with lots of fun color.

LACOSTE
We saw lots of oversized tops in vibrant colors, such as our color trend of the moment, orange. Lacoste opted for a red orange similar to the one used in the Jil Stuart show. We also like the designer’s use of silk in the spring/summer 2012 collection.

RAG and BONE
This is a unique use of orange on the runway from Rag & Bone’s spring/summer 2012 collection. We like the use of mesh and layering from the young label and the blazer off sets the trendy style just right.

CHARLOTTE RONSON
Leave it to Ronson to kill the orange color trend with this dye dipped sheer mini dress. We can’t get enough of the ruffles and buttons as well.

DEREK LAM
With minimal designs like Lam is famous for adding a vibrant orange red color like the one above took this ordinary buttoned up sheath dress to the next level.

JENNY PACKHAM
This is one designer who sure knows ball gowns. There’s no doubt that we’re going to be seeing a lot of her on the red carpet this season. Her use of orange is breathtaking with this embroidered asymmetrical, exaggerated front slit chiffon gown. Love it entirely.

DONNA KARAN
Known for her elegant style and versatile pieces, Karan used an earthy orange for this flattering terracotta design. This is what feminine chic looks like ladies, take note.

There were many more designers who used orange in their lines and making a unique statement with this unconventional color. Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com. Check back for our NY Fashion Week wrap up coming up.

New York Fashion Week: VICTORIA by VICTORIA BECKHAM SPRING 2012 Runway

Recently, we reviewed Victoria Beckham’s luxury handbag collection, so naturally we’re excited to cover her spring 2012 show. Take a look at Victoria Beckham's debut show for Victoria by Victoria Beckham . Don’t you just love New York Fashion Week!

Victoria’s collection was a sea of pretty colorful spring dresses. Above we see a halter style bright coral mini dress made with a light flowing fabric, which we have been seeing from a lot of designers this season.

This playful color block mini dress is too cute for words. The design is youthful, yet there is a hint of sophistication about it. Victoria may have succeeded in creating a dress that could truly suit any woman.

We love this innocent looking outfit, first of all for the bright blue color and simple accent bow at the collar and second for the basic loose fit black uni skirt with pockets. This line as a whole can absolutely go from runway to the rack.

Yet another dress from the line, but with a little bit of a twist with the collar which is a combination of a boat neck and micro v-neck. (love) The mini skirt is a little flirtier than the rest of what we see in the line. This is possibly our favorite piece. Clean, crisp and chic!

We adore what Victoria did with the collar on this mini dress. The different variation on the turtleneck and sleeveless cut is absolutely yummy. And yet another occurrence of that low waist line with a flirty skirt.

Front pockets, color blocking and playful patterns at the waist and hem, this loose fitting mini dress is again the perfect mix of sophistication and youthfulness.

It’s actually interesting to see this mono color dress with an intricately layered silhouette that’s uniquely Victoria. We also see that combination collar that we like and front pockets (gotta love function). This A-line mini dress is a simple pastel piece that is completely wearable for any woman once again.

Last we love the bright red quarter sleeve crew neck dress with beautifully tailored lines.

Applause goes out to Victoria Beckham and her new line. One suggestion, go get it girls!
