New York Fashion Week Runway Color Trend

If there was one color that surfaced a lot during fashion week it had to be the dominant and vibrant orange. Orange has certainly surfaced from time to time in the past couple of years mainly on celebrity red carpets, but for spring 2012 all major designers used a variation of orange in their collections. So check out who we spotted using the orange color trend so you can get some ideas on how you can use the color for the coming spring.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG SPRING/SUMMER 2012
Above is a floral jumpsuit with a plunging neckline in a vibrant orange. We also love the belted tie knot waist with side pockets. The model looks ultra cool and casual.

BCBG MAX AZRIA
This flowing silk with a high side slit and cross body neckline looks ultra appealing in this bright orange hue. The dress is paired with a color blocked loose fitting hoodie jacket giving the style a more relaxed feel.

JIL STUART
Using a youthful red orange color for this innocent looking mini dress is right on target for the spring season. Jil Stuart’s designs have a simi-sophisticated feel to them incorporating many pleated, short sleeve mini dress looks with lots of fun color.

LACOSTE
We saw lots of oversized tops in vibrant colors, such as our color trend of the moment, orange. Lacoste opted for a red orange similar to the one used in the Jil Stuart show. We also like the designer’s use of silk in the spring/summer 2012 collection.

RAG and BONE
This is a unique use of orange on the runway from Rag & Bone’s spring/summer 2012 collection. We like the use of mesh and layering from the young label and the blazer off sets the trendy style just right.

CHARLOTTE RONSON
Leave it to Ronson to kill the orange color trend with this dye dipped sheer mini dress. We can’t get enough of the ruffles and buttons as well.

DEREK LAM
With minimal designs like Lam is famous for adding a vibrant orange red color like the one above took this ordinary buttoned up sheath dress to the next level.

JENNY PACKHAM
This is one designer who sure knows ball gowns. There’s no doubt that we’re going to be seeing a lot of her on the red carpet this season. Her use of orange is breathtaking with this embroidered asymmetrical, exaggerated front slit chiffon gown. Love it entirely.

DONNA KARAN
Known for her elegant style and versatile pieces, Karan used an earthy orange for this flattering terracotta design. This is what feminine chic looks like ladies, take note.

There were many more designers who used orange in their lines and making a unique statement with this unconventional color. Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com. Check back for our NY Fashion Week wrap up coming up.
